The Challenge: Crafting a Story in Seconds
QuickFrame brought us the North American Van Lines project, and like most QuickFrame work, we started with limited client knowledge and had to build everything from scratch in a fast turnaround. From creative concepting and casting to location sourcing, talent acquisition, and prop shopping—we had 45 days to complete the project, with the shoot timeline being a particular challenge.
The goal was to convey the simplicity of moving with North American Van Lines in just 30 and 15 seconds, which meant we had to be exceptionally strategic with each second of screen time.
Our Approach: Thorough Preparation & Thoughtful Execution
Knowing we had limited time, we ensured every detail was planned meticulously. We collaborated with the client to bring fresh ideas into the mix, while working within the framework of what North American Van Lines had done before. The concept focused on moving as a stress-free experience, portrayed through a series of playful yet practical visuals.
For casting, we leveraged Backstage.com and found fantastic talent for the movers. After numerous auditions, we found our perfect "mom" character by reaching out directly to a production duo we had encountered on previously at a marketing conference — showing the importance of staying connected in the creative community.
Our preparation paid off, as we managed to film efficiently despite the complications of shooting in a busy urban neighborhood. We planned every shot, from wide to medium, treating the camera almost like a sitcom audience, which kept the set controlled and the production smooth.
Execution: Keeping Calm Under Pressure
Despite the usual unpredictability that comes with shoot days, our rigorous preparation ensured everything moved forward with minimal stress. Every shot was pre-planned, from talent blocking to lighting setups, enabling us to focus on the performance and getting the best takes possible.
With such tight time constraints, every detail mattered. We maximized the use of 30 seconds, making sure that each visual conveyed the ease of moving with North American Van Lines, enhanced by light humor and relatable moments.
